Linda K. Sharkey, a Venezuelan stylist, hostess and storyteller of luxury fashion events based in Madrid. With an incredible international career, she has worked as an editor and collaborated with media in Spain and the UK. Her style blends elegance, authenticity and a deeply contemporary look.
You were born in Venezuela and have lived in London, Bali, and Madrid. Which city is your favorite to live in?
"Each city has been a different chapter. London was where fashion became a language and I understood its power as identity. Bali brought me back to calm, curiosity, and the joy of authenticity. But Madrid is home. It's where I chose to put down roots, where my family grows, and where I’ve found a wonderful sense of balance."
You’ve been working in the fashion industry for fifteen years. Has it always been your calling, or did it grow on you over time?
"Fashion was always present, but not in an obvious way. I remember as a child I loved watching how people expressed themselves through clothing, how a look could tell a story without words. I used to comment on combinations and silhouettes without realizing there was more to it. Then, in London, I discovered style as a form of visual storytelling. I started telling those stories—first through a blog, then as a journalist, and now as a stylist. It’s been a constant evolution, but fashion has always been my way of interpreting the world."
How has your professional life changed in recent years?
"The biggest change has been focus. For years, I juggled media, collaborations, and various projects. But in Bali, by slowing down, I realized I needed to specialize. Today, my work is centered around creating fashion experiences for premium clients. It's not just about dressing—it's about telling stories through styling, making sure each piece resonates emotionally. Social media has transformed the landscape—it's a powerful and fun tool—but in my work, I value real connections more. Face-to-face encounters where the connection is tangible and the storytelling becomes a memorable experience."
A tip for smart shopping:
"Be true to your style, to your essence—not to trends. Trends are fleeting; your soul is eternal and evolves with you. When in doubt between a trendy piece and a wardrobe staple, choose the latter. You’ll get much more use out of it, it will be more versatile, and it will stay with you for years."
How would you define your style?
"I’d say my style is a mix of sophistication, versatility, and boldness. I love to blend timeless pieces with unexpected details. I believe in the power of contrast: structure with fluidity, masculine with feminine."
A book that has inspired or impacted you?
"Parisian Chic" by Ines de la Fressange, for the way it shows that style comes from authenticity, not from following trends. Also, The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman—a reminder that connection and communication are essential in everything, especially with those we love most."
What is your favorite hotel in the world?
"Nihi Sumba. It’s a place where nature, luxury, and connection to local culture are magically intertwined. Waking up to a crystal-clear sea, walking along white sand, horseback riding on the shore… and the ikat weaving of Sumba is an incredible craft that lives in every corner of the hotel. For something more rural but equally magical: Sanubari Hotel. Waking up there, between the sea and the misty mountains, is priceless."
What would your perfect Cayumas be like?
"What would Cayumas loafers look like? Haha… Neutral-toned Cayumas with a hint of texture or subtle print—something like that deep green that reminds me of old houses with character—a wonderful collaboration with Casa Lopez. Timeless, versatile, and full of personality."
