Journal 30: Interview with Filipa de Abreu

Filipa, a stylist, fashion consultant and Portuguese influencer with a distinguished international career. She has established herself as a key figure in the realm of personal and editorial style. Her vision blends sophistication with freshness, bringing luxury closer through a more natural and accessible language.
What are your earliest memories in the fashion world?
“My earliest memories are watching my mother get dressed. Her friends would come over and get dressed altogether, to me sitting on the sidelines it was like watching a theatre production.”
As a consultant, what are the most common challenges when working with major brands and designers?
“The challenge is always to translate a brand’s vision into something that feels both authentic and relevant. It’s about balancing heritage with modernity, while keeping the client experience at the center."
What recent changes in fashion do you find most significant or inspiring?
“I find the return to craftsmanship and timelessness inspiring. I like pieces that are created to last, with meaning behind them. Fashion for me is not about speed but the classics.”
What would be your dream project to carry out in the coming years?
“To design a home from the ground up not just interiors, but a whole environment where architecture, decoration, and lifestyle come together as one.”
What is your favourite hotel?
“Blake’s in London— for its beauty, intimacy, and the stories those walls would tell if they could. A good thing walls are silent! They keep secrets.”
What place in the world would you like to visit wearing our Cayumas?
“I would wear them in Tangier I miss it and I particularly miss my friends there — walking through the Medina, visiting antique shops, and spending time with my friends.”
How would you design your perfect Cayumas?
“A deep tobacco brown velvet loafer, with a slightly masculine shape but feminine in its details; something that feels classic, elegant, and lived in.”
