"I would describe my decorative style as “inspirational eclectic,” as it adapts significantly to different places and contexts."
Who do you consider an icon of classic style? And contemporary style?
"My favorite decorator of all time is Renzo Mongiardino, who was a family friend and an endless source of inspiration. In contemporary design, I admire my friend Remy Renzullo and his timeless work."
You have written for AD about impressive houses in Milan and Kenya. Do trends in interior design change as much as trends in fashion, or are they more stable?
"Choices made for one’s home tend to be long-lasting. That’s why careful consideration is essential."
You've been a consultant for Sotheby's. What was the most special object you found?
"A pair of cushion-shaped diamond pendant earrings that I would have loved to own."
Do you keep any amulets or objects from your travels that you cherish?
"I unfortunately have a tendency to bring back larger items like plates, glasses, and fabrics to decorate my homes, but I cherish them all."
You've traveled extensively. If you could retire to one place in the world, where would it be?
"Definitely my chalet in the Bernese Alps, where time seems to stand still."
Your favorite hotels?
"La Mirande and La Colombe d’Or in Provence Peponi in Lamu and Le Sirenuse in Positano. These are hotels that make one feel at home in the most special surroundings."
What importance do shoes hold in your daily life?
"Shoes are an essential staple for me, as I walk a lot every day!"
What are your perfect Cayumas?
"It’s difficult to choose, as I love them all, but I have a particular fondness for the Bohème Jeans! I am a big fan of denim in all its forms."
