Journal 51: Interview with Carla Hinojosa

Journal 51: Entrevista a Carla Hinojosa

Carla Hinojosa is a Spanish influencer and content creator. She shares her fashion style, daily life, and personal reflections. She started on social media before the term “influencer” existed and has built a loyal community without following passing trends.

Why did you decide to study Journalism and Advertising?

“From a very young age I knew I wanted to be a fashion editor at a magazine. I grew up heavily influenced by role models like Carrie Bradshaw and by the big fashion campaigns I saw, especially those by Dolce & Gabbana, which fascinated me and sparked in me the desire to create those kinds of universes. I have always felt the need to tell stories and understand how messages are constructed. Journalism gave me judgment, a critical eye, and respect for information, and Advertising taught me how to communicate in a creative and emotional way. The combination of both allows me today to create content with intention, aesthetic, and coherence.”

What is your biggest inspiration in the fashion world?
“My biggest inspiration is my mother. She taught me to understand fashion through elegance, coherence, and the value of well-made things. From there, inspiration comes more from people and places than from a specific trend. I’m inspired by women with their own style, effort-less elegance, quiet luxury, and everything that has soul: craftsmanship, tradition, and the way a garment can tell a story.”

What does digital responsibility mean to you?
“It means being aware that what you share has a real impact on others. Understanding that social media are not just show windows, but spaces where role models, comparisons and expectations are created. For me, digital responsibility means communicating honestly, showing a realistic and thoughtful version of life, choosing well the brands I collaborate with, and never losing coherence with my values.”

What professional direction would you like to take in the coming years?
“Continue growing in projects that mix fashion, lifestyle, and meaningful content, and consolidate a more creative and entrepreneurial side. I’m very interested in developing my own projects, collaborating with brands from a more strategic place, and continuing to build a personal voice within the industry. Over time, I’d also like to enjoy social media more as a hobby, without everything necessarily being about constant exposure. Additionally, I have business projects outside the fashion world that excite me a lot and that I would love to see grow and become established.”

What role does craftsmanship play in your day-to-day life?
“Craftsmanship plays a very important role because it represents a way of consuming more consciously and emotionally. It connects me with patience, detail, and respect for processes. I particularly value pieces that have a history, that are made with time, and that don’t just respond to the immediacy of trends.”

What place in the world would you like to explore wearing your friulanes?
“Italy. To walk through its streets, get lost in small towns, or explore cities like Venice or Florence, where everything invites you to go slowly, observe and enjoy the details — always with comfort and style.”

What would your perfect Cayumas look like?
“Comfortable, timeless, and versatile. In neutral colors, quality materials, and that balance between tradition and modernity that makes them wearable both for everyday life and for a special occasion without overthinking it.”
