Journal 90: Interview with Margarita Trillo

Journal 90: Entrevista a Margarita Trillo

Margarita has built her career in the field of communications and public relations, with experience in fashion communications and influencer marketing. In this conversation with Cayumas, we explore her perspective on communications and fashion, as well as her understanding of the role brands play in a constantly evolving industry.

You work in a world where trends are constantly changing. What aspects of your personal style do you feel remain unchanged, no matter how fashion evolves?

“I believe that personal identity should always come before trends. If a trend doesn’t reflect your style, you should always stay true to your personality. Personally, I love special pieces that stay with me for years, many of them inherited from my mother and grandmother, as well as jewellery and costume jewellery that complement and often take centre stage in many of my looks.”

Craftsmanship is reclaiming a very special place in fashion. What do you think an artisan-made piece has that a mass-produced garment can rarely offer?

“Time, quality and the story behind the process. An artisan-made piece involves a craft process in which people work with their hands and have a story to tell through the work they do to create it. Artisan craftsmanship celebrates time, something we are losing nowadays. Everything moves so quickly, and we live in a world of instant gratification.”

You have been closely involved in the worlds of communication and fashion. What continues to surprise you most after so many years working and moving within the industry?

“The creativity and the desire to tell stories that move people and bring together individuals from very different backgrounds. Trends and communication channels change, but we continue to seek inspiration and projects that excite us and connect with audiences. I also love discovering brands with people behind them who have such sensitivity and creativity.”

Where in the world would you love to explore wearing your friulane?

“One place I still have on my travel wish list is Naples. If I manage to visit before the end of the year, my friulane will definitely be coming with me! I’m really looking forward to discovering the city in them.”

What would your perfect pair of Cayumas be like?

“Just like the pair I’m wearing today: timeless, sophisticated and comfortable.”
